English Synopsis
Vienna, 1906. Christine (Romy Schneider) is the twenty-year-old daughter of a cellist. She attends a ball with her best friend Mizzie (Sophie Grimaldi), who dances with an officer called Theo Kaiser (Jean-Claude Brialy). Christine is then introduced to Kaiser’s friend Franz Lobheiner (Alain Delon) and it’s love at first sight. Unfortunately, when they meet, Lobheiner is in the midst of a flagging love affair with the Baroness Eggersdorf (Micheline Presle), who is his superior’s wife. He decides to put an end to the liaison, but things do not go as easily as he hopes.

Vienne, 1906. Christine, vingt ans, est la fille d’un violoncelliste. Elle participe à un bal avec sa meilleure amie Mizzie, qui danse avec un officier nommé Theo Kaiser. Christine est ensuite présentée à l’ami de Kaiser, Franz Lobheiner, et c’est le coup de foudre. Malheureusement, lorsqu’ils se rencontrent, Lobheiner entretient une liaison qui bat de l’aile avec la baronne Eggersdorf, qui est la femme de son supérieur. Il décide de mettre fin à la liaison, mais tout ne va pas se passer aussi facilement qu’il l’espère.
