English Synopsis
Pierre (François Cluzet) is a very happy man, a jurist, who has been married for years with a woman he still loves and with whom he has two children. One night though, he meets Elsa (Sophie Marceau), a writer. It is love (lust?) at first sight. But Pierre cannot cheat on his wife, and Elsa is reluctant to date a married man. Nevertheless, they keep on bumping into each other – by chance or willingly – without yielding to their desire. But since the film constantly plays with the border between reality and fantasy, the veracity of their very relationship is put into question.

Pierre (François Cluzet) est un homme heureux : juriste, il est marié depuis des années avec une femme qu’il aime, et avec laquelle il a deux enfants. Mais un soir, lors d’un salon du livre, il rencontre Elsa (Sophie Marceau), qui est écrivain. C’est le coup de foudre. Mais Pierre aime toujours son épouse et ne peut la tromper. Quant à Elsa, elle se refuse à entretenir une relation avec un homme marié. Pourtant, ils ne vont cesser de se croiser, par hasard ou sciemment, sans toutefois jamais céder au désir. Le film jouant avec les frontières entre réalité et fantasme, la véracité même de leur rencontre semble remise en cause.
