English Synopsis
Based in part on Alfred de Musset’s work La confession d’un enfant du siècle (Confessions of a Child of the Century), the film details the fraught love affair that took place between two great French literary figures: George Sand (Juliette Binoche), who was known for her cross-dressing and other taboo-breaking behaviour, and Musset (Benoît Magimel), a writer, poet, and dramatist. The film tracks the development of their relationship, including their meeting at a literary salon and their eventual migration to Venice, as well as their intellectual collaboration.
