Richard Piotr has proved to be a mentally deranged hypochondriac and has harassed Annie for days. He enters her flat with a gun and threatens to kill her as well as Laurent, an HIV-positive patient who has become her friend. Laurent tells Richard to shoot him instead of Annie because he does not have much time left to live anyway. Laurent’s speech is so heart-felt that Richard is completely disconcerted. He sits down.
